A new one man show written and performed by Mikel Murfi.

Following its premier in The Hawk’s Well, Sligo in September 2023, a sold out run in the Dublin Theatre festival in October and a month long residency in the Irish Arts Center in New York in November, Mikel Murfi now brings his new show The Mysterious Case of Kitsy Rainey on tour throughout Ireland.

Following on from The Man in the Woman’s Shoes and I Hear You and Rejoice, both of which enjoyed both critical and popular acclaim at previous outings in Ireland, London and New York, this new piece, the third in the series, finishes out Pat Farnon’s journey in a most unexpected way…

Having married Kitsy Rainey late in life, cobbler, Pat Farnon finally decides to lift the lid on a life previously lived by his wife. And all the while Pat faces down his own reckoning. A tender, heartfelt and joyously funny piece.

Originally from Sligo, Mikel Murfi trained at Ecole Jacques Lecoq, Paris. His performances in theatre include Dances Like a Bomb and Dolores (Junk Ensemble), Ballyturk (Galway International Arts Festival / Landmark / Wide Open Opera), The New Electric Ballroom (Druid), Morning After Optimism, Playboy of the Western World (Peacock Theatre), The Comedy of Errors (Abbey Theatre), and Here Comes Trouble (Loco & Reckless Productions / Hawk’s Well Theatre).

Mikel’s work as a director includes Tóraíocht (Fíbín), Waiting for Godot (Theatre Du Pif, Hong Kong), The Far Off Hills (Nomad Theatre Network), The Walworth Farce, Penelope (Druid), Trad (Galway International Arts Festival), The Country Girls (Red Kettle), Diamonds in the Soil and The Lost Days of Ollie Deasy (Macnas).

Film includes: The Ballad of Kid Kanturk, Intermission, Sweety Barrett, The Butcher Boy. Love and Rage, Guiltrip and Jimmy’s Hall. And as a director, Druma and John Duffy’s Brother.

Loco & Reckless Productions are an Irish film, TV and Theatre Production Company.
